Modern Lexus vehicles have advanced technology that cools and heats your cabin whenever you give the order. This setup is known as the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system, or HVAC. The way that the temperature is increased in the interior of your Lexus NX 350, GX 550, or RX 350 is thanks to the heat of the engine and the radiator. These transfer energy to the heater core using warmed coolant, which in turn blows hot air through your vents. The cooling system works in an opposite way. It collects warmth around coolant-filled condenser coils, which pulls heat from the surrounding space. This creates colder air that is then pushed into your cabin.
Warning Signs
There are several problems that can arise in regard to the HVAC system once it’s been used for several years. If it’s been a while since your last inspection, set up an appointment with us today! Also, watch out for warning signs as you’re driving down Route 6. One way to tell that something is amiss is if the air coming from your vents is not the desired temperature. After a few minutes, the system should produce a warm or cold breeze, so visit us if it refuses to do so, as a coolant leak may be to blame. This problem also usually causes a sweet smell to emanate from the vents. If the fans won’t blow much air out, it is also a red flag that something is wrong. Finally, check under your car for a coolant that may have leaked.
